Colours of Hope: My Entry for KL Caley’s #WritePhoto Challenge: HORIZON

Hello hello! Remember me? I’m finally back with an entry at the close of 2022, and hope to post more often in the coming new year.

Horizon by KL Caley

For visually challenged writersthe image shows water with the occasional island just out of focus. The horizon is a golden colour.

HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS:

  • Each Thursday at Noon GMT the #writephoto prompt will be posted on New2Writing.
  • Use the image and prompt as inspiration to create a post on your own blog… poetry, prose, humour… light or dark, whatever you choose, as long as it is fairly family-friendly.
  • Please have your entries linked back to the original prompt post by the following Tuesday at Noon GMT.
  • Link back to this post with a pingback and/or leave a link in the comments below, to be included in the round-up.
  • Please click their links to visit the blogs of other contributors and take time to read and comment on their work.
  • Use the #writephoto hashtag in your title so your posts can be found.
  • There is no word limit and no style requirements, except that your post must take inspiration from the image and/or the prompt word given in the title of this post.
  • Feel free to use #writephoto logo or include the prompt photo in your post if you wish, or you may replace it with one of your own to illustrate your work.
  • By participating in the #writephoto challenge, please be aware that your post may be featured as a reblog on this blog and I will link to your post for the round-up each week.

………

Before my eyes sits a canvas
of Prussian blue:

It laps at my feet,
cold, calming.
Over my head, it fades
into lavender wisps,
it trickles
into a rosy stream,
then bursts
into fantastic gold.

A faraway land twinkles in its glow,
looking at me from across the waves.
Will you swallow all of my sorrows?
Will you hide me in your embrace?
Will you give me a new home, a new face?

The wind beckons me over.
I go.

My Entry for Eugi’s Weekly Prompt (May 3)-STARRY NIGHTS

https://amanpan.com/2022/05/03/eugis-weekly-prompt-starry-nights-may-3-2022/

This Week’s Prompt (May 3)– STARRY NIGHTS.

HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS:

Go where the prompt leads you and publish a post on your blog that responds to the prompt. It can be any variation of the prompt and/or image. Remember to keep it family friendly; this needs to be a safe and fun space for all.

Link your blog to Eugi’s Causerie with a pingback. You may also place a copy of the URL of your post in the comments of the current week’s prompt. Responses posted prior to the next Thursday prompt release can be included in the Roundup.

………

Starry nights don’t have to be
trips into the wilderness,
two days’ luggage in the car,
marshmallows toasting over a fire,
guitar strumming in the dark.

Starry nights can also be
long chats with an old friend,
a warming cup of coffee,
the scent of yellowing pages,
the gentle breathing of your pup
as you both drift to sleep.

WHAT DO YOU SEE?: My Entry for Sadje’s WDYS Challenge #132

Image credit: Caleb Williams @ Unsplash

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a well-dressed young man of African descent sitting on stairs. His hands are gripping the railing and he is staring intently at the camera.

  • You can write a post on your blog and create a pingback to link to the original post.
  • Write an original story, poem or a caption.
  • There is no limit to words or format but keep it family-friendly.
  • If you post a response before next Sunday, Sadje will be able to add it to her roundup post.
  • Sadje will do a round-up next Sunday before the next Prompt is posted.
  • It is always helpful if you can give your post/story/poem a title.
  • Paste a link of your post in the comments section so that Sadje doesn’t miss anyone in the roundup post.

Please tag your responses with

#Whatdoyousee or #WDYS

Hey stranger, what do you see?
A killer
with no blood on my hands—
A criminal
shoved behind bars—
A cheater
with nothing to hide—
A thief?

Or instead, do you see
an artist
head full of ideas—
a dreamer
heart full of hope—
someone to love,
a fellow human being?

It’s unfortunate
that things must be
so black and white.
It’s unfortunate
we still have to fight,
to stay above the surface,
to say what is right.

So tell me, stranger,
what do you see?
Is it someone else?

Or is it me?
